God Has Never Spoken To Me

People often think that, when you follow the Lord, decisions come easy, or that as you're trying to do the will of God, your path becomes perfectly clear, and the decisions are always smooth and simple but that is not always the case. 

I really want to encourage people who feel like they’re not being good Christians because you’ve never “heard from the Lord”, or He’s never spoken to you,”  you are not alone. I want you to know that He’s never spoken to me directly either. I’ve experienced many challenges in my life where I felt completely stuck! I prayed and asked the Lord to show me the answer, I sought wise counsel, I talked to pastors, and it seemed like He never showed me an answer! What I realized is just because you don’t think you’ve heard an answer doesn't mean that He isn't leading you and it doesn't mean He isn’t with you. Our God is a big God with an infinite number of ways to speak to us.

God uses people to speak to us! He uses His Word to speak to us. He uses worship to speak to us.

There have been multiple times in my life where I was completely stuck in a tough situation, and I prayed and asked the Lord to show me the answer, I sought wise counsel, I talked to pastors, and He never showed me an answer! It doesn't mean that He wasn't leading me, and it doesn't mean He wasn't with me. Part of walking by faith means that we don't know His plan or the outcome. 

It's not about knowing God's plan. It's about following God's plan. It’s about being willing to say, "You know what, God? I don't know what your plan is, but whatever it is, I'm open to it, and I will do it. If You want me to do it, I'll do it. If You want me to go, I'll go. If You want me to stay, I'll stay. Whatever You want me to do, that's what I want to do.

Even though I don't know God’s plans, I get to trust His character.

He is a God that loves us so much, that He severed a perfect relationship for all of eternity past so that we could be made right with Him, by sending His Son down to this earth. He gave up a perfect relationship and sacrificed His Son for us. If you can't trust the character of That Person, then you can't trust anyone!
